Our Story so far
In 1918 Henry Cooper Smith founded Smiths Auctions in Christchurch, New Zealand. Then known as The City Market, they auctioned grain, produce, livestock and general goods.
Seventy-three years later his grandson Colin Smith and long time Auction Manager Robert Hunter took over the running of Smiths Auctions.

Moved to our current location at 88 Montreal St, Christchurch.

In 2007 on the retirement of Colin Smith, Robert Hunter took over full ownership. To this day Smiths Auctions trade to the same values as they did way back in 1918.
The world is changing and Smiths Auctions are evolving with it. With the addition of our Online Auction platform we continue to serve our customers with the highest standard of service.
